Other than that, a home health program is provided to allow the patient to follow a regimen for their betterment. Read on to know the top benefits of chiropractic treatment and you too could experience quality life.
The main benefit of seeing a chiropractor is getting relief from muscle and joint pains. A patient who has experienced chronic pain and had taken medication to get immediate relief realizes that the root cause of the ache is not targeted but only numbing it for a while. With chiropractic therapy, it is not only the pain that is eliminated but also understanding where it came from. Thus aside from getting relief from pain, it is also prevented from returning.
Another one of the top benefits of chiropractic treatment is increase in flexibility of the muscles and range of motion. It is no secret that as the person ages, the body tends to go slow in healing injuries and flexibility is decreased. With the chiropractic therapy, the chiropractor is able to help the patient with teaching exercises and lifestyle changes that can help strengthen the muscles. With the patient's determination, the injury or weak body will enjoy once more muscle flexibility and doing more activities.
As the body is a complex machine, each body system has its own function to make the whole body works well. However, one system works will affect other systems in their performance as well. But if all body systems are in-sync and the pain is eliminated, the body can be at its optimum capacity. Such condition allows the body to protect itself from diseases and illnesses common among people. With chiropractic therapy, the body's immune system is given the boost as other systems in the body are given treatment.
Many people having stressful lives lack sleep and easily get irritated. With chiropractic treatment, the body will feel energized and full of vigor to face the daily challenges head on. When body ache is relieved and the immune system is heightened, the person will feel less stressed and experience better sleep. This will give the person more energy to take on any trials without complain with little to no problem at all. Being able to feel fresh everyday when waking up is one of the top benefits of chiropractic treatment.
Many have attested to having undergone chiropractic therapy and felt the benefits of chiropractic treatment. With its hand techniques and tools used in a non-invasive way, patients prefer this alternative medicine. If you have any condition that has been coming back and not being cured, chiropractic may just be the right one for you. Do not delay as your health is on the line here and experience the best life you can possibly have after.

Health IT - FCC Broadband Vote Ushers In A New Era For Telemedicine

At a meeting held on May 24, 2012, The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) voted to allow the healthcare industry to use protected broadband space to develop and deploy mobile body area networks (MBANs). MBAN's will set aside broadband spectrum for wireless healthcare monitoring devices that is free of transmission interference from Wi-Fi and other high-powered consumer devices including smart phones and tablets. The FCC's action makes the United States the first country in the world to devote broadband spectrum to healthcare.
The FCC's action was not decided in a vacuum as the ruling represents an important objective met in the commission's comprehensive National Broadband Plan. In the healthcare space, the FCC's National Broadband Plan is expected to serve as a driver for both innovation and connectivity, which are two key elements needed to lowering healthcare costs and improving patient care. The FCC worked closely with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which has regulatory control over mobile medical devices, to streamline the approval process for medical devices that will use the wireless spectrum. As a result of this ruling, the FCC has allocated 40 MHz of spectrum for use by MBAN devices on a shared, secondary basis. This allocation provides a spectrum band for short-range medical technologies to facilitate very reliable low-power operation.
Today, telemedicine combines the use of traditional telecommunications and information technologies in order to provide clinical healthcare to patients at a distance. Telemedicine monitoring helps physicians improve clinical care to patients while also reducing the need for hospitalization and visits to the emergency room. This technology helps eliminate barriers and improve access to healthcare especially in rural communities where medical facilities are not readily available.
While telemedicine is recognized to be very beneficial to patients, especially those living in rural areas throughout the United States., a significant challenge to implementing MBAN's in those communities is the lack of access to broadband services. The FCC cites that an estimated eighteen million Americans currently live in areas without broadband access. The expectation shared by many stakeholders in the healthcare industry is the FCC ruling should serve as the catalyst to close the broadband connectivity gap for healthcare providers while aligning the commission's efforts with the emerging meaningful use criteria and patient-centered coordinated care models. Without a shadow of a doubt, health information technology will not reach its true potential without full access to broadband services.
As the FCC works with broadband providers to expand coverage in rural areas throughout the country, the benefits of wireless monitoring and telemedicine via MBANs to patients and clinicians are significant. Most inpatient and telemedicine monitors today require connecting patients to devices using cables. The elimination of those wires could increase a patient's mobility which will help contribute to improved patient outcomes and enhancing overall comfort. Small sensors could collect real-time clinical information such as temperature, blood glucose and respiratory function, and aggregate it at a nearby device for local processing and forwarding to centralized displays and electronic health records. By eliminating the cables that restrict a patient to their hospital bed or home, experts say the devices could transform the way a patient's health is monitored. With MBANs, patients can stay connected to their clinicians at all times allowing for the continuous monitoring of vital signs even before they reach a hospital, while being moved from unit to unit, and even after they are discharged from the hospital. This technology is essential to reducing the costs of healthcare and giving patients and their providers an uninterrupted portal through which to share information.
Additional benefits of MBANs to patients in the hospital may include:
1. Increased flexibility. Clinicians will have the ability to quickly add or remove sensors for different physiological parameters as medical conditions warrant.
2. Ease of transporting patients. No longer will there be a need to disconnect and reconnect wires prior to transporting a patient.
3. Early detection of health issues. Clinicians can catch issues before a patient's condition becomes critical, thus improving patient outcomes and potentially avoiding the need for acute interventional measures.
4. Infection control. By eliminating monitoring wires, MBANs could help reduce the risk of infection and the need for wire and sensor cleaning procedures.
In conclusion, mobile body area networks are the future for inpatient monitoring, telemedicine technologies, and represent an exciting next big step for healthcare in the United States.

Avail The Trouble-Free Alternatives

Science has indeed developed a lot over the time and has provided the human race with economical alternatives of everything, even the natural elements like light and oxygen. Can you ever imagine surviving without oxygen? You might be thinking that even if a little of concentration of the life-providing air would drop, then you would have to face some critical consequences. Well, no doubt that it's true, but then there are solutions available for that too. The oxygen machines are available in the market that contains artificial oxygen to provide the necessary aid to the people having respiratory problems.
The oxygen machines are widely being used in the field of medicine as well as the business in order to store the gas for emergency use, since a long time now. However, the convenient replacement of these machines is also available in the form of portable oxygen concentrators. The best part about these concentrators is that they are very handy to carry while a person is visiting another city or simply going for a trip. Moreover, you can easily store the portable oxygen concentrators as they occupy a very less space due to their generally compact structures. You can easily shop for these concentrators in the physical as well as virtual market as the companies that manufacture these products have a huge array of choices available for their clients so that they can select the one suiting their requirements as well as budgets. Nonetheless, if you find that the prices are too high for your expectations, you can always go for the renting option as it would allow you to use the commodity on contractual basis and that too at a lesser price.
Besides, if you have an old compressor at home, then it would be a wiser option to sell it to the company that deals with such products as you would be having good chances of either getting the money against it or you would be able to buy a new one in exchange of it, with a little add-up money from your pocket. The online shopping areas give you detailed information about the deals being offered so that it becomes convenient for you to manage your transactions even if the company you are dealing with is not operating within your premises. Evasive Action to Overbearing Healthcare Reform

With the June 28, 2012 ruling by the Supreme Court of the United States in declaring the Affordable Care Act constitutional, very important personal decisions need to be made by Joe and Jill Citizen as to how they will deal with the changes as it relates to their conscious health decisions. For instance, in order to keep the plan as cost effective as possible steps may be implemented to limit doctors in the types of treatments they can provide their patients. Is this something Joe and Jill Citizen is ready to contend with?
In the likelihood of that type of scenario affecting millions of people, there lies enormous potential for aware and free-thinking individuals to take more responsibility for their own health and well being. Preparing for the worst is, if not should be, a natural-born instinct for every human being. We prepare for bad weather by having candles or flashlights on hand should there be a power outage, going to a cellar in case of a tornado, having road salt and snow shovels on hand before the blizzard of the decade hits. Wouldn't it make sense, in the case of our health, to make preparations as well? In fact, one would say that it makes much more sense to take preventative measures to ensure our good health endures for as long as humanly possible.
The looming threat of being denied a critical medication or procedure to provide a work-around for a current ailment is a frightening prospect, even more so if your life depends on it. Scientific study has shown that many of today's sicknesses and diseases could easily be prevented with proper nutrition. Much of these findings were derived from the field of animal husbandry which, these days, is very big business. And as in any business if you have damaged product (diseased animals) your customers will not buy and you go out of business. One can quickly understand why reversing the sickness and disease in livestock would be very important to that particular business. The same applies to human health only with greater consequences if you, the product, is damaged due to nutritional deficiency.
Take, for example, the debilitating disease arthritis. For over 50 years those in the business of animal husbandry have been curing arthritis in their livestock with natural trace minerals found in the mineral blocks scattered in fields all over the world. Does it not make sense that the same concept of supplementing the diet with essential trace minerals would apply to the arthritic joints of human beings? We can readily see, in this example, the great benefits of taking preventative steps to curtailing the painful prospect of degenerative arthritis. It would be hard to believe that a free-thinking individual would prefer to wait and see if the care they may require would be granted or denied based on the cost effectiveness to a health care program. What factors would determine if treatment should be granted or denied? Age? Weight? Tax revenue generation of the patient?
Answering the call to take control of our personal health situations can be an intimidating concept to many people but it could not be more critical than it is at this moment. With certain aspects of the health care changes being put into place, the old proverb "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure," couldn't be more true.

Risks of Developing Vaginal Infection

Urinary tract infection in women (commonly known as UTI) is a bacterial infection which is known to occur when bacteria invades the sufferer's urinary tract system and multiply all through the urinary tract system. Like vagina infection, vaginal infection can cause severe symptoms like burning and or pain upon passing urine.
The urinary system helps the body filter and remove liquid waste and consists of the bladder, kidneys, urethra and ureters.
About half of the female population in the world will have at least one vagina infection in her life time, while a lot of women may suffer through several infections all trough their lifetime. A woman is much more susceptible to urinary tract infection than a man. Thankfully, infections can be easily treated using antibiotics. But, some women are prone to having recurrent UTI's than other women, and this can be pretty frustrating.
What Is the Cause of Urinary Tract Infection?
The most well known cause of urinary tract infections is bacteria from the bowel that live on the skin that is located near the vagina or rectum, which can then spread and then enter the urinary tract via the urethra. As soon as these bacteria gain access through the urethra, they then journey upward; thus causing infection in the bladder and other parts of the urinary system.
Women who have multiple sexual partners or start having sex much more frequently may also experience vagina infection more often the women who are in monogamous relationships or are celibate.
Waiting too long to pass urine is another cause of urinary tract infection. The bladder stretches to hold the urine and then contracts when urine is passed. If you wait too long to pass urine, the bladder will stretch past its capacity. Over a period of time, this can cause the bladder muscle to become weak. When the bladder is weak, it may not be able to pass out the urine totally and will contain some urine. This may increase the risk of vaginal infection.
The other risks of developing vaginal infection include:
• Diabetes
• Pregnancy
• Menopause
• Having a UTI as a child

Unlike many vagina infection symptoms that are quite difficult to spot, you will be glad to know that UTI symptoms are very easy to notice, this include a really strong urge to pass urine that cannot be held; which is followed by a rather sharp/ discomforting pain or burning sensation in the urethra when you pass urine. Most times, very little urine is passed and may also be tinged with blood. You may also notice a strong urge to want pee fairly quickly and soreness may occur in the back, sides and lower abdomen

What Is a Holter Monitor?

A Holter monitor is a portable device that records the electrical activity of your heart for about 24 hours. Hence it is sometimes called a continuous ECG. While an ECG or an electrocardiogram also monitors the electrical activity of the heart, it provides a picture of the heart's health only for a few seconds, in fact for the time it is administered. If doctors suspect a problem, they advise that the Holter monitor be used to study the heart's electrical activity for a longer period.
Why is this test performed?
Doctors use this monitor to further investigate arrhythmias or irregular heartbeats. The heart may beat too fast (tachycardia) or too slowly (bradycardia) or irregularly.
The Holter monitor is also deployed to detect myocardial ischemia. When this occurs, not enough oxygen rich blood is reaching the heart due to blockages in the arteries. Myocardial ischemia can also be the cause of irregular heartbeats.
How is the test performed?
A technician will place electrodes in different parts of your chest. If sweat or chest hair prevents the electrodes from sticking to the chest, the hair will be shaved. These sensors will be connected with wires to the monitor. You can carry the device in your pocket or around your waist. You will be asked to carry on normal activities throughout the duration of the test. You will be given a form or a diary to record any abnormal events like dizziness, irregular heartbeats, or chest pain. You will be asked to note the time of such events.

You will be advised not to shower during the duration of the test. Upon completion of the test, the monitor will be returned to the cardiac center. The data is analyzed by the technician and the results forwarded to your physician.
Results
Your physician will analyze the results and compare them to any untoward events you may have recorded in the form you will submit to the physician.
The doctor may be able to diagnose your cardiac problems after examining the results from the Holter monitor.

Abnormal results could include arrhythmia or irregular heart rhythms or a heart block. If this device fails to show any abnormalities, then further tests may be ordered.
Risks
There are no risks to the patient wearing a Holter monitor. There may some inconvenience to you since you will not be able to shower while the monitoring of the heart is under way. While wearing the device, patients are advised to avoid metal detectors, magnets and electric blankets.
